Third Arrest Made in Swansea Gunshot Incident

Following a dramatic incident in Swansea where a vehicle sustained gunshot damage, police have arrested a third individual. The event, which took place in the Morriston area, involved a car on the A48 road being hit by gunfire, leaving one person with minor injuries.

Multiple Arrests

Authorities from South Wales Police initially arrested two individuals on Friday. A 41-year-old man and a 16-year-old teenager, both residents of Llansamlet, were detained and remain in police custody. Most recently, a 29-year-old man from Swansea was apprehended on suspicion of affray and carrying an offensive weapon.

Police Investigation and Appeal

Chief Superintendent Stephen Jones commented that while incidents like this are uncommon, they do provoke concern among locals. He assured that it appears the involved parties are acquainted, with no current broad threat to public safety. Officers are maintaining a visible presence in the area to support the ongoing investigation and to reassure residents.

Police are actively seeking those who might have witnessed the incident or have footage, urging them to come forward. They’ve also discouraged the spread of unverified information on social media, which has contributed to local speculation.

Community Impact and Response

The timing of the incident prompted the cancellation of local events, including a planned firework display, as authorities initially advised residents to steer clear of the area. Meanwhile, images circulating on the internet depict armed officers beside a bullet-damaged vehicle near a popular supermarket.

In the wake of the incident, road closures that were enforced have been lifted, and the helicopter from the National Police Air Service has returned to its base. The police continue their investigation and encourage anyone with information to access their major incident public portal for communication.
