In a devastating incident, a helicopter crash in Los Angeles has resulted in the loss of three lives. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) disclosed that the aircraft went down in the Chatsworth area, nestled between two business buildings.

The crash, which occurred just before 7 PM on Tuesday near Lurline Avenue and Nordhoff Street, also left one individual hospitalized. However, details about their condition remain undisclosed at this time. Fire department officials managed to bring the subsequent fire under control, which had engulfed nearby shipping containers and vehicles.

Although the exact operator of the helicopter is yet to be confirmed, reports from nearby media hint at the possibility of it being a news chopper. The area had been bustling with news helicopters, covering an earlier city bus crash that also claimed two lives and wounded six when an SUV collided with a bus in the same neighborhood.

Captain Branden Silverman from the LAFD confirmed to a local CBS affiliate that one victim was found outside the helicopter and pronounced dead at the scene. However, he did not clarify the total number of people onboard at the time of the fatal crash.

The Los Angeles Police Department has verified that the helicopter involved was not part of their fleet. Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has taken charge of the investigation, aiming to determine the underlying causes of this tragic event.

This incident has cast a shadow over the Chatsworth community, as they grapple with the news of the helicopter crash and the earlier tragic bus accident.
