A distressing event unfolded in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the death of 47-year-old Amit Kumar. This incident has raised alarms over public safety and the rule of law in the region. The unfortunate incident transpired when Kumar objected to an individual urinating in a public area, leading to a violent confrontation.
The altercation took place in the Kakadev region, where Kumar’s objection seemingly provoked the group who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The police reports specify that several youths, incensed by Kumar’s protest, brutally attacked him. The assailants reportedly used a brick to inflict severe head injuries on Kumar.
According to the authorities, the attack was witnessed by a CCTV camera nearby. The footage has been instrumental in piecing together the sequence of events which culminated in this tragedy. Amit Kumar was swiftly taken to a hospital by his family, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries after two days of intensive care, passing away in the late hours of Monday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Atul Srivastava, has provided insights into the police’s response following the event. Upon being informed of Kumar’s critical condition and subsequent death, the police launched a detailed investigation. The inquiry confirmed that Kumar’s death was a direct result of the assault and not an unrelated accident.
In response, the police have registered a case and formed four dedicated teams to track down the accused individuals. The police are hopeful that swift legal action will soon be applied once the perpetrators are apprehended.
