TV personality Alison Hammond has returned home and is recuperating following a health scare that prompted her abrupt departure from This Morning. During Friday’s live broadcast, Hammond, 51, exited the set, clutching her chest. Co-host Dermot O’Leary later reassured viewers about her wellbeing.
Following her departure, Hammond explained that she experienced heart palpitations, leading her to seek immediate medical attention. She shared an update via Instagram, revealing that she had been given a clean bill of health after undergoing hospital tests. “It appears I experienced a significant panic attack on live TV. It’s quite new to me,” she admitted.
Hammond expressed gratitude towards the NHS and her colleagues for their support during the incident. “The warmth from everyone has been overwhelming,” she stated, acknowledging the unexpected spotlight on her personal health.
Alison Hammond’s TV career began on Channel 4’s Big Brother and includes appearances on I’m A Celebrity and Strictly Come Dancing. She became a regular host on This Morning in 2021, contributing to its award-winning success, and joined The Great British Bake Off in 2023.
Despite the ordeal, Hammond is optimistic and plans to rest before returning to her television duties. Her sudden departure from This Morning was managed smoothly by O’Leary, who informed the audience of her condition and continued with the remainder of the program.
